hitting the pool again

I used to love swimming a lot, but the lack of ladies only pool and not having my own private pool forced me to forget my hobby for awhile. Luckily, my wonderful husband found a nice apartment building with a pool on the roof and (this is the most important) exclusive timings for ladies and children. Yipeeee! So i put on my brand new arena swimsuit, cap, goggles, and enjoying the summer sun in the water.

Aaah...so nice. I haven't swim for so long that I forgot how relaxing swimming can be. That feeling when your body's inside the water, just floating and weightless. Swimming is also a great exercise. It's a cardiovascular ( means you're using your major muscles and train your heart and lungs), injury-free, and suitable for people of all ages.

Also, great things happen in the pool. The other day, a girl from pakistan mistaken me for my son's sister, she thought I was seventeen or eighteen....I'm sooo going to remember this moment for the rest of my life...hahahah...I guess when you're getting older (even only in your mid twenties) a mistake like this is very satisfying :P

Detach

Starting from yesterday, my son sleeps in a different room. It's hard for him, but I just realize it's harder for me. We've been so attached these 3,5 years. My husband was away the first two years of our son's life, so it was just the two of us. Those sleepless night when I was breastfeeding him, those cranky mornings. I'm sure gonna miss all of that, but a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do, right?! It's just another step. Another phase in Akram's life.

Soon he's going to start school. Can't wait for that day. I'd probably cry, a lot. Tears of separation, joy and nervousness all mixed.

the first time when I fell in love with Sharjah

Had a wonderful time last night. After a couple of weeks of curiousity, I finally had the chance to ride the 'eye of the emirates' at the Qanat Al Qasba, a canal that runs in the heart of Sharjah. The eye itself is a gigantic white ferris wheel, something that my son Akram has been longing to take a ride on. The weather is unbearable in summer, even hotter than Jakarta in midday. Luckily, the gondolas of the eye are equipped with air conditioners. So there we were.....some 60 metres above the ground, smiling our biggest smiles, enjoying the breathtaking view of our adopted home town. It was lovely....the lights, the tall buildings, the dim lighted mosques...what a sight for sore eyes!!!

After dinner, Akram insisted that we tried the boat rides. Well, you'll know that after you have children, they are the decision maker (most of the time). So yeah, we took the ride. No regrets for this. I could actually smell the ocean air, hmmm....very nice. What I love most about Sharjah is of course the buhaira corniche. Can't wait for winter to come and imagining myself strolling there.

Really glad we went there, the city is not about malls after all... :)

prelude

I can now finally have a peace of mind. It hasn't been easy moving from one place to another, Saying goodbye when we haven't even bonded with the place. So here I am. Sharjah is where it all begins. My life, my episodes, my chapters. Decided to write a blog of my own. Yes it is the purrrfect time. State of the art internet connection (thank God...I don't have to wait 30 minutes just to upload some pictures...bye bye dial-up), quality time for myself, and a happier state of being :)
