the first time when I fell in love with Sharjah

Had a wonderful time last night. After a couple of weeks of curiousity, I finally had the chance to ride the 'eye of the emirates' at the Qanat Al Qasba, a canal that runs in the heart of Sharjah. The eye itself is a gigantic white ferris wheel, something that my son Akram has been longing to take a ride on. The weather is unbearable in summer, even hotter than Jakarta in midday. Luckily, the gondolas of the eye are equipped with air conditioners. So there we were.....some 60 metres above the ground, smiling our biggest smiles, enjoying the breathtaking view of our adopted home town. It was lovely....the lights, the tall buildings, the dim lighted mosques...what a sight for sore eyes!!!

After dinner, Akram insisted that we tried the boat rides. Well, you'll know that after you have children, they are the decision maker (most of the time). So yeah, we took the ride. No regrets for this. I could actually smell the ocean air, hmmm....very nice. What I love most about Sharjah is of course the buhaira corniche. Can't wait for winter to come and imagining myself strolling there.

Really glad we went there, the city is not about malls after all... :)
